Speedy Tweedy

After winding my skein of Brooklyn Tweed last night, these fingerless gloves simply had to be hooked up.

I used some of my left over variegated sock yarn and some of my mustard tweedy Rowan yarn to add some interest to the fingerless gloves.

I am loving the colours and am hoping the recipient (a very special friend) will too.

What have you been making or enjoying this week?
I have to face sewing up my finished knitted cardigan, the bit I don't look forward to, but I know it will be worth it once it's done!
Happy days everyone

  1. Lovely colors and mitts. Your special friend will love them I know. What is not to love about them?

  3. Oh yes, I do indeed love those colours, Penny! I have some Rowan Tweed in the same hue ready for autumn...

I too am the proud owner of Brooklyn Tweed and I am a little curious to know whether you have found it has a tendency to break easily when knitting/crocheting?

Warmest wishes from very sunny France,

    Stéphanie

ps Aren't those light, long evenings a joy to behold?

  4. I'm crocheting a granny square scarf like the lady in the BBC2 sewing programme wore. I didn't watch it but read a blog post with a link to pictures of her... Granny Annie was she called? Anyway, loved the scarf so I am doing one for a friend in bright primary colours mostly as that is what she wears and prefers. And I shall make a more muted one for me in autumnal shades, later. Also knitting bedsocks... I know it's not the time of year but I am limited as to how much craft work I can do these days so things take a lot longer than I am used to, or like!

  6. I love the colours of these :)

On the knitting front I've been working on a shawl design ... it will be a gift for my sister to wear at her wedding.

  7. Deeee-lish yarn, you've certainly picked my fave colours! Hope you are well - I'm silly busy at the moment, wondering when I'll get the chance to blog ever again!! I'm just having to settle on a few snatched moments of visiting to get the blog fix I need ;)

  8. Good morning Penny,

I'm just popping in to say THANK YOU for getting back to me about the Brooklyn Tweed :-) I was totally smitten by their colourways, purchased three skeins in autumnal jewel colours (in autumn) and then froze like a rabbit in the headlights of a car when I saw how easily it broke. I WILL use it one day, but when I'm feeling calm :-)

Happy Friday to you, lovely Penny,

    Stephanie

  9. Did you seriously just make those this week? They are absolutely gorgeous. I want to make something similar - I've been toying with the idea of making mitts for a while. If I start now they might be ready for autumn... x
